I had the honor and privilege of meeting the Founder and CEO of Bamboo Village Books, Quinton Taylor-Garcia, at the Afrotech '24 conference in Houston, TX. The talented and successful author inquired about my expertise with assisting him in building a professional website to support his growing book business. While he had an existing single page site through GoDaddy, he knew it had room for improvement by identifying the pain points. I gladly accepted the opportunity and completely redesigned his online presence by transforming the basic GoDaddy page into the fun, colorful, and dynamic website linked here.
Bamboo Village Books Mobile
Goal: Cultivate a global community of readers and thinkers by providing access to a diverse and enriching
library of literature that inspires learning, connection, and growth. Promote lead generation, sell
books, increase fan communication, offer support for first-time authors.
Problem: Single page website didn't capture vision of the company, lacked connection with community and
lead generation,
website functionality and purpose, zero book sales through website.
Solution: Provide an aesthetically pleasing website to interact with users/readers that functions
properly, create great user experience, drive book sales through website lead generation with an annual sales goal set by my client of 1000 books at the end of 2025. A total of 124 were sold in 2024.
The creation of this website began in Figma, starting with a mood board to establish the overall design direction, including layout, color palette, and structure. I then developed a sitemap to define the site's flow and navigation. With that foundation in place, I moved on to creating both low and high fidelity mockups, ultimately building a prototype for the client to review and provide feedback prior to coding.
